MR. MONTGOMERY'S RETIREMENT.
» The news that Mr. Montgomery's health will no longer enable him to nndertako Parliamentary duties will be received with general regret. He is decidedly one of the members who will bo missed, and the House can ill afford to lose a man of his high character, urn-elfish aims, and political experience. It has often been laughingly remarked that no man ever was bo wise as Mr. Montgomery looks when he rises to speak on any important Eubject, but though his speeches were sometimes rather dreary they were always distinguished by Bound practical gense, and no man in the Houbo commanded more sincere general respect or better deecrvod it. We greatly regret his retirempnt, and still more its unfortunate cause, but we hope that temporary rest may bo restore his health as to enable him again to enter Parliament. He should always be able to command a seat when he desires one.
