THE STEAMER KANIERI.

The steamer Kanieri. which the Union Steam Ship Company has just had built specially for the Blenheim trade, arrived in Wellington, under command Of Captain Manning, at 4 this morning, having left Dunedin at 1.16 pm on the 6th instant. She is built of mild steel, and is of tho following dimensions :— Length, 105 f t; breadth, 21ft lin ; ana depth of hold, Bft lin. She was launched from the yards of Messrs W. Denny Bros., of Dumbarton, late in 1686, and her engines were nude by the same firm, the nominal power being 20-horse, and the diameter of their respectivo cylinders being 16in and 26in, with a stroke of 15in. Her gross tonnage is 200 and register US tons, while she can accommodate 24 passengers, of whom 12 arc berthed in a ladies' saloon situated amidships— a very snug little compartment. The gentlemen's cabin is situated in the after part of the vessel, and is equally comfortable. The rooms for the officers and engineers are amidships. She is fitted with steam-steering gear, steam winches, and patent davits for swinging the boats clear of the side. Sho is rigged as a fore-and-aft schooner, and presents a rery smart appearance. She will steam about 9 knots on a small consumption of cool. The Kanieri mado the voyage (under sail) from Glasgow to Dunedin in charge of Captain Putterson. late second officer of the ss Coptic, in 118 days. The Kanieri leaves Wellington for Blenheim on Monday
