Accident at a Timber Yard, [By Telegraph.] (Our Own Correspondent.)
Auckland, This Dat. An extraordinary accident is roported at the Union Sash and Door Company's timber yard, North Shore. On Thursday night there wero about 300,000 feet of timber stacked in the yard, when the centre suddenly oollapsed and the timber was precipitated into the water. During Friday workmen were employed in lifting the fallen timber and re-stacking it on the remaining portion of the platform. During the afternoon this also collapsed, and two young men named Kirby and M'Callum met with a mishap through boing struck by the falling timber. Kirby was so badly injured that he is now under medical attendance, and M'Callum had one foot slightly injured. It is probable that the timber yard will require to be re-construoted. The sea beach under the yard was a favourite bathing place for children, but at the time of the collapse none wero in tbo water, a Sunday school excursion having taken the most of the children away.
