The Mayor has reooivod numerous applications for relief from sufferers by tho lato floods. It is estimated that the damage to the roods, &0,, in Lyttelton can be repaired at a cost of JJIBO. During the storm the premises of Mr. Cowlin, at Govornor's Bay, were dostroyedby one of tho crooks running down the hillside boooming diverted from its course. Tho house was crushed to the ground, its inmates, Mr. and Mrs. Cowlin and their invalid daughter, escaping through a broken window. The daughter had to bo dragged out in her nightdress.
