A cold wind frag blowing at Ellcrslie this morning, and it made matters rather unpleasant for those who turned out to watch the work. The feature this morning was the good strong gallop between Turquoise, Necklace, Derringer, and Hadames. The quartette started from the bottom of the course in company, and after putting in once round Radames dropped to the rear and Derringer being pulled off at the cutting, Turquoise and Necklace then came home together, the former appearing to be pulling over his companion. Toe gallop was a real good one, anh both pulled up sound and well. Turquoise evidently had a good weight up. A Cst boy rode Necklace. Tasman was sent once round at *, good bat, moving freely and well, and Waitiri put in a couple of rounds at a good swinging pace, striding along in a very taking manner. Woodnrmph, with Revolver for a. companion, went once round steadily, when tho mara was picked up by Contractor, and the pair came homo in company. Stonoyhnrst and Nelson (in company) were sent once round at a medium pace, Nelson appearing to be able to stick to his companion, foul Shot and libeller were sweated, and among the others out were Refrigerator, Capsize, Alpine Eose, Salvage, Macaroni, and Medico, but they did no work of note.
