A crowded indignation meeting was held here lost night to denounce the Glauses ot the Municipal Corporation Act, under whioh a oounoillor ia liable to penalties for supplying goods to the Connoil in the ordinary way of trade, as decided by the Resident Magistrate in the case of Graff v. Park on Thursday last, when defendant was fined £50. Resolutions were unanimously carried sug« nesting necessary amendments in the Act, and arranging to bring the matter under thenotioe of the Legislature this seemon. The case Graff t. Park, in which defendant gave notice of appeal against the decision of the fieiident Magistrate fining him i}so for illegally acting as Councillor, has been settled, the defendant, at plaintiff's request, paying iUO in satisfaction of the verdiot. Feilding, This Dat. A public meeting is called for Monday next, to pass a resolution asking the Legislature to amend the clause in the Municipal Corporations Act, under whioh certain Connoillon have recently been fined.
