Kilbirnie Road Board.

The monthly meeting of the Kilbirnie Road Board took plaoe at the offioe, Ade-laide-road, laat Thursday evening; the Wardens present were Mesars. Collins (Chairman), Falkner, Howdon, and Holmes. Meßßrs. Brialey and Hopwood waited upon the Board as a deputation, asking that something might be done to the road near their properties in Vogeltown. The matter was left in the hands of the Warden. A letter was rooeived from Mr. Crawford, stating that something was required to be done upon the Pilot Station-road. After some disoussion, it was resolved that the Board authorise the expenditure of £20 upon the road aa a grant in aid. It waa also deoided that Mr. Moxham should reoeive a grant in aid for the repair of the road near his farm : and that Mr. Howden be allowed to expend a sum not exceeding £10 npon the streets leading from Mills-road, Vogeltown, to the Happy Valley. A discussion took Elaoe in reference to the road in Zilirnio used by the nightsoil oarts from the city. Some complaints had been lately mode to the City Connoil of the bad state of the road, but the Council had positively refused to contribute anything towards its repair, although the Board had waited npon them several times, and offered to contribute a fair share of the expense. The provisions of the Local Bodies^ Finance and Powers Bill were next taken into consideration, and favourably commented npon, the Board considering that if the Act passed, the proposed subsidy would enable them to make good roads round the rooks, to Island Bay, and the Happy Valley, and to undertake other works to greatly improve the distriot; therefore the Clerk was instructed to write to Mr. G. Fisher, as representative of the district, soliciting him to give the Bill his hearty support. Mr. Falkner handed in a cheque for £2, being a subscription from a ratepayer towards certain works in Kilbirnie. Accounts, amounting to £108 14a 3d, wore then passed for payment, and the meeeting closed. ___ _^
