A Lock-up Destroyed by Fire.
A PBISONEE BURNT TO DEATH. [By Telegraph ] | united prxsB association.] Duxedin, 19th October. At Alexandra South, in Vincent County, the lock-up was burnt down this morning at 4 o'clock. There was one prisoner confined in it, a Chinaman named Ah Tery, but when the fire was discovered the flames had auch a hold of the building that it was impossible to resoue him, and his body was burnt to a cinder. The building was of wood and iron, and was erected twenty years ago. This Dat. At the inquost on tho ori/iu of the fire at the Alexandra Look-up, the jury returned an open verdict, exonerating the constable in charge.
