A NUISANCE IN ORIENTAL BAY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib— The residents of Oriental Bay have slip being constructed in that locality. They very properly object to the nuisance which the noxiou3 odours arising from the slip would create. But, but, these same residents Beem to be entirely oblivious of the fact that there is at present a very serious nuisance in tho bay. Anyone strolling round the bay, after passing the Tea Gardens, will notice on the edge of the road (if a number of puddles of water and quantity of mud can be called a road) heaps of rubbish consisting of old tin cans and other backyard refuse. Further round may be seen a number of fish in various stages of decay. The odour emitted from the latter is something disgusting, and I venture to say if we were to have a few weeks. of hot weather, that foyer of some kind or other would be the result. To my knowledge, sir, this state of affairs has existed for over a month, and yet the residents of tho Bay, who were so energetio over the slip nuisance, have mode, and are making, not the slightest effort to get rid of tho nuisance. Sir, is it the duty of the Inspector of Nuisances to see to this matter, or if not whose duty ia it? I am, Ac., Rambler. 18th August, 1884.
