CRICKET.

The annual match between teams representing the Town and Civil Service was concluded on the Basin Reserve yesterday afternoon after we had gone to press, resulting in a victory fpr the latter by 16 runs. The wicket was not a good one, and the balls rose unpleasantly for the batsmep . Mr. Alpe captained the Civil Servants, and Mr. Page tho Town team. The innings of the Town representatives calls for no special mention, with the exception of Twist's batting, his score of 37 being run up very quickly. The laßt five wickets dropped for nothing. The bowling of Wood was a feature of the innings, and it was remarked that ho has never shown snch good form before. The fielding of the Civil Service was capital at tho start, but as the game advanced it became very slack, and a number of runs wore obtained in consefiuence. At 3 o'clock the Civil Servants commenced their innings, and were not disposed of until they had raado 95, Firth bowling well with a fine break. The Town team then went in again, and when time was called hod lost sir wickets for 47 runs, the bowling of Bonaldson being too good.
