New Zealand securities remain at the following quotations : — Five per oent. 1889 loan, 104 ; 4J per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 102, ex div. Adelaide wheat has declined 2s per quarter, and is now quoted at dig, ex store. New Zealand wheat has fallen Is ; lowest price is now 465. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, has fallen to 34s 6d. Australian tallow has fallen Is per cwt. Beef is now worth 4ls and muttou 44s for average quality. At the wool auction to-day the catalogue comprised 12,800 bales. Prices were barely maintained. 27th February. The Hon. W. H. P. Carington, Liberal M.P. for High VVycombe, has resigned his seat in tho House of Commons. Paris, 27th February. A man named Byrne has been arrested ! here, tho British Government having demanded his extradition. He is oharged with complicity in tho Tocently-disclosed Irish conspiracies. Mr. Gladstone arrived here to-day from Cannes. Ho will havo interviews with several leading French statesmen during his stay, and a banquet will be given in his honour at the British Embassy. Rome, 27th February. Petards havo been thrown by supposed Socialists at three different points in the city. No damage was, however, dono, and several arrests have been made by the police.
