A te3t case was heard at the Police Court to-day against Watson, publican, to settle whether, under the new Aofc, hotels must bo kept closed on Sundays. The facts, as admitted by the defendant, were that the door was open, that there was access to the bar by that door, and that a person was behind the bar prepared to serve. Ie was argued tor the defence that the Act contemplated keeping open for sale to travellers, &c , Judgment will be given to-morrow. THIB DAT. In respeot to a number of proaeoutions re Sunday trading, the oity Benoh today decided that the Licensing Act does not prohibit the keoping open of the door of an hotel or access to a bar, or a person baing there to serve travellers. -_-»»
