TBt Telbgbaph.l [from otjr own correspondent. I Mastkrton, This Day. During Mass at the Roman Catholic Church yesterday, Father Halbwachs, in strong language denounced Mr. A. W. Kenall, oue of the candidates for VVairarapa North, and told his congregation they must rate for Air. Beetham, an Mr. Kenall had pot the funeral service performed over one of hia family by a Protestant clergyman, although the deceased was baptised by a Catholic priest. In the evening Father Halbwachs denied a rumour that he had applied to Mr. flenaU for money before performing the funeral rites. Mr. Beetham was pres mt in the church. The priest's oaduot has excited strong comment among Catholics aa well as Protestants.
