Saunders' buildings, one of the largest blocks in the town, had a narrow escape of being destroyed, tha dinger being chiefly arerted by the efforts of the fire brigade The origin of the fire, further than that it is supposed to have ■ bar ted in Tait' 8 shop, is shrouded in mystery. The insurances are : — Cookson's stables and cottage at rear, .£BOO, in the Union Office; Tait, .£250, in the Norwich. Cookaon estimates his dead loss at .£4OO, and Tait at £250.
