wind— Between north-west and couth-west in both Island B ; backing at places south of Napier Barometer— Fall again at all places south of Kapler, within 12 hours. Bea— lncrease ou western coast, and between Castlepoint and Kaikoura. Wabnings for northerly gales have been sent to all places southward 01 Napier. SYNOPSIS OF LAST 21 HOUBS. From Poverty Bay northwards there have beon hard gales from the eastward; between Napier and Lyttelton the wind has been generally from north-east, and unsteady in foroo, increasing at times to a iresb gale ; between Lyttelton and tho Blnll the wind has been Btrong from north-east to south-east. Muoh rain has fallen generally, but it has been heaviest at pluoob northward of Napier und Wanganui. The barometer has risen a little everywhere during the night.
