SALE Of THE DIXON ESTATE.

In oar advertising columns appears an annonnoement which will bo of interest to our Masterton readers, namely, the sale by publio auotion of the Dizon estate, comprising fonr rnral seotions, within a short distance of the centre of the township. It oontaius 160 acres, and has been sub-divided into 43 allotments, ranging in area from one to nine acres; also town section 67, snbdirided into five allotments, and the well-known family residence, and grounds laid oat as ornamental garden and orchard. The estate is said to be one of the best in the district, as the late Mr. Dixon being one of the pioneers of the Masterton Settlement had an opportunity of selecting the pick of the land, and we are informed that during the land mania about three years since, as much as .£2OO per acre was offered and refused. The sale, whioh has been intrusted to Messrs. T. Kennedy Macdonald and Co., will be held on the 17th November next, and in order to close the acconntß of the estate for division amongst the several legatees, it ha 3 been decided to sell the whole without reserve. Considering this, coupled with the fact that the whole of the property is situated in the heart of the prinoipal district of the Wairarapa, the result of the sale will be taken as a good index to the value of the landed property, and will prove what faith the settlers and capitalists have in the district.
