Notwithstanding the recent copious rainfall in the colony, the total quantity which has fallen during the year is still six inches below the average. Tins Day. Mauritius advices to sth instant report that 500 tons of sugar have been cleared for Dunedin, and 750 for Lyttelton; 300 tons are loading for Port Chalmers, and 300 for Lyttelton. Brisbane, This Day. Parliament was prorogued to-day to the 29th instant. Sydney, This Day. There is now every reason to believe that the small-pox is sensibly decreasing in the city and suburbs. Several members of the Ministry visited Newcastle yesterday, and were cordially received. Sir Henry Parkes, the Premier, in replying to an address made a lpngthy speech, in which he reviewed the history of his administration.
