Ikecteh's tklegrams.] London, 13th' October. v ' Tn his speech at tho Guildhall to-day, Mr. Gladstone chose the opportunity to contradict roporta which have been current that thcra has been dissension in the Cabinet, and Btated that perfect harmony prevails among the members of the Ministry. In further allusion to the arrest of Mr. Parnell, he said thai; this step was one towards the strict enf 01 cement of respect for the law. The Government;, he added, did not fear the people of Ireland, and it was necessary to put a stop to the corruption and terrorism of professed agitators. In regard to the state of affairs in tho Transvaal, Mr. Gladstone stated that tho Government were determined to abide by the term? of the Conveation agreed to between tho Royal Commissioners and the Boer Triumvirate. Accounts to hand from Ireland state that ' Mr. Parnell wns arrested at Ma hotel in Dublin, under the warrant of the Viceroy, issued in accordance wich tho provisions of the Coei oioa Act. Ho was conveyed to Kil1 mainham gaol, aud will there be kept in custody. A meeting of the Irish National Land League was held to-day, when Mr. Dillon was appointed to replaco Mr. Parnell in tho 1 leadership. Consols remain at 93§ . i The total reserve in rotes and bullion in the Bank of England is .£9,875,000. The Bank rate remains at 5 per cent.; market rate, 4£. ' New Zealand securities are without quota1 ble change. \ There is no change to report in tho market : for Australian breadatuffs. Telegrams have been received from Afghanistan announcing that another great ; battle has been fought between the forces of the Ameer and Ayoub Khan, resulting in the " complete defeat of the latter. Further tele1 grams, moreover, report that the Ameer has 1 sinco occupied Horat, and that Ayoub has 1 fled to Persia, but this intelligence requires ' confirmation.
