Consols have declined to 99. New Zealand securities are unchanged. The market for colonial broadstuffs is quiet at unchanged quotations, viz. — Adelaide wheat, ex store, 58s ; New Zealand ditto, 565. Adelaide flour, ex store, 425. Australian tallo<v is firm at 41s 6d for best beef, and 45a for best mutton. 11th October. The frozen boef brought per steamship Orient, from Melbourne, was sold at the fcmith field market to-day, and realised an average of fivepence halfpenny per pound. 'Ihe meat was in excellent condition. Paris, 10th October. News has been received that a battle has been fought at Testour, in Northern Tunis, between the Tunieian troops and the Arab insurgents. The engagement was of a sanguinary character, and rosulted in the complete rout of tho Arabs. Vienna, 10th October. Baron you Haymerle, tho Austro-Hun-garian Minister for Foreign Affairs, died suddenly to-day. Washington, 10th October. At a meeting of the Senate to-day, Mr. Bayard, a Democrat, waa temporarily eleoted President of tho Senate by 34 yoteß to 32. The Democrats are now obstructing tho admission of a now Republican senator.
