THE ASSEMBLY LIBRARY. TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING POST.

Sir— My attention has been called to a letter in your paper of the 6th inst., signed " Charles White," in which the writer states that — '* It may be of some interest to the Wellington public to know that at the meeting of the Joint Library Committee referred to by Mr. Macgregor, the names of the Hon. Mr. Waterhouse, the Hon. Mr. Mantell, and Henry Bnnny, Esq, M.H.R., are recorded as being present." Now, I was not present when the resolution referred to in the Librarian's letter to Mr. White, dated 3rd instant, was passed, as I was wanted on another committee and was obliged to leave. Had I been present I should certainly have opposed the resolution. Ab Mr. White haa thought fit to give only the names of three members who were present, nunely, Mr. Waterhouse, Mr. Mantell and myself, I think it is only right to furnish you with the names of the members of both Houses who were present on that occasion : — Sir Wm. Fitzherbert, K.C.M.G., Hon. Captain Fraser, Hon. Mr. Mantell, Hon. Mr. G. R. Johnson, members of the Legislative Council ; and Messrs. Reader Wood, M.H.R., H. Bunny, M.H.R. (who, as already stated, had left previously, before the resolution was moved), W. Swanson, M.H.R. , and Dr. Wallis, M.H.R. I am, &c, Henry Bunny. Featherston. 11th October, 1881.

A word that embraces'a good deal.— Hug. A good prophet — 100 per cent.
