witii rererence to tne natives selling their cattlo and goods at a sacrifice, the Herald gives the following instances :— J. Dingle, of New Plymouth, bought 20 head of large cattle from the natives for £ 10, or £2 per head for f nil-grown cattle ; again, Capt Martyn, of Manaia, and Mr. Humphrey Bayley bought 70 horses from, the native 3 for JESO. They have sold a building formerly used as a Maori chapel, ploughs, and other things to raise money.
