On tbe eastern coast there baa been a severe southerly ga'e accompanied by a very heavy sea between Lyttelton and the East Gape ; in other parts of the country the weather moderated during the afternoon. A very brilliant aurora was seen at Hokitika last night B.A. EDWIN. 11th September.
