ESSENCE OF PARLIAMENT.
In the House yesterday several notices of motion were given and a number of qnesti na of no great importance answered. Among tho bills introduced were the following : — A bill to enable persons entering upon the tenancy of houses where gas i-> \ai<\ on, to he snpplied with the same, without boing called upon to pay the arroirs of previoua tenants (Mr. Hutchison) The Patents Act Amendment Hill (Mr. Dink). The Leaseholders Qualification Bill, and a bill to enable the Governor, on the petition of the majority of the electors of any county, to declare that " The Oonnties Act, 1876," shall be snsponded therein (Mr. Hall), and a bill to proteot the property and good 3of persona from ¦unreasonable distress and seizure (Sir Qcorgo Grey). Several motions for retnrna were agreed to. including 1 one by Mr. Murray, showing the detail* of the cost of the now law courts and police buildings at Wellington. The House then proceeded to fnrthor consider the third reading of the Keproaontation Bill, tho dobato upon which ia reported in another column.
