HOSPITAL AMBULANCE. TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING POST.
Sir— l read with pleasure the suggestion thrown out by " 5.0.8." in your issae of this evening re the conveyance of injured persons by accident to the Hospital, because I believe something will be done in the matter now that it is brought under notice ; but I think, however, his suggestion is scarcely the thing to suppress the cvii complained of, for this reason — How would he manage when the car was detached from the engine at Adelaide-road ? As you know, the Hospital stands on the hill some considerable distance away, and it would be necessary to get an express or stretcher, or something of the kind, to convey the patient from the bottom of the hill to the building, and it is very undesirable to move the patient from one conveyance to another, especially if it were in rough weather. I think a more simple and complete plan would be to keep a light four-wheeled carriage at each of the i'ire Brigade Stations (Central and Te Axo), where horses are always ready and men in waiting. .fit is thought not safe for these to leave the station on such an errand, then hire the first snitable horse passing. Of course " 5.0.8.'a" suggestion of details would also apply here. I am, Ac, W.S. Wellington, 31st;August.
