DUNEDIN TRAMWAY ENQUIRY. COMMITTAL OF CONDUCTOR FOR MANSLAUGHTER.
[UNIT It D PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunkdin, 9th May. Tho inquest on Garratt, who died from injuries rocoivod at tho Roslyn tram accident, was continued to-day. The relatives of deceased, tho conductor of tho car (Potor Hannah), and tho company wero represented by lawyers. Mr. Denniston haying objected to the Coroner's way of taking evidence down, provokod the following reply from tho Coroner:— "l by no moans undorrato tho vnlne of lawyers' services, but at tho samo time I am oonvinoed wo aro quite compotont to mako the fullest enquiry without legal assistance, and on that principle I intend to act." The inquest probably will not conclude to-night. This Day. The coroner's jnry returned a vordiot of manslaughter against tho conductor, who was committed for trial.
