The Ameer has abandoned his intention of coming to Tndia, bnt ho has sent as an envoy Mir Ahmed, who has arrived at Peshawur, en routs for Calcutta. The census, taken throughout India on tho 17th instant, passed off very quietly. Mr. Lepol Griffin, recently political officor at Afghanistan, has assumed charge of the Central India Agency. Sir Frederick Haines leaves India on the 7th March, when Genoral Stewiirt will assume the position of Commander-in-Chicf.
