+ [from a correspondent.) Hamilton, This Day. At the District Court, Hamilton, Mr. Mactavish bronghfc an action against Mr. Joseph Ivesa for alleged wrongful dismissal from the editorship of the Waikato Mail. Damages Xere laid at £100. The defendant conducted his own case, and contended that plaintiff had suspended publication of the paper, and had reproduced old matter which had appeared in previous issues of the Mail; also, that plaintiff had insulted his customers, which resulted in loss and damage to his business. Experts were called on both Bides to prove the impropriety of such pro.ceedings. Judge Mapdonald gave a verdlcft for the plaintiff for £50, remarking that defendant had conducted his case with great skill and ability, and it was a pfl^he did not hold a brief for others. The defendant gave notice of appeal.
