ROMANTIC SUICIDE.

? An inquest was held by tho district coroner, Mr. Candler, at Caulfiold yesterday (says the Melbourne Ago of Bth January), on the body of a youth named William Tucker, who shot himself throngh disappointment in love. The following evidence was takon :— Edward Brenan said — The deceased drovo a milk-cart at Rosstown, and lived in a houso with me. On the morning of tho sth instant he came home with the cart, and took the piece of paper produced and wrote on it. Ha called me, and gave it to mo folded up. He told me to give it to Agnes, and nobody olbo. I saw the gun produced in the bed, and the ramrod at the side cf it. I then went outside and I was hardly off the stops when the gan went off, and I ran back, and saw deceased jnst failing on his back. His eyes rolled. I ran for his mother, and whon sho raturnod with me, in abont five minutes, he was quite dead, and his shirt was on fire. Deceased said to me that I should never fall in love ; it was the worst thing I could do. Ho had not been drinking. He had not taken any food for the previous two days, and was very melancholy. Joseph Lawrence said deceased was 18 years of age, and employod by Mr. Field to drive his milk cart. On Friday last he asked witness for the loan of his gan to shoot rabbits. He seemed rational. • Tho following is the paper alluded to in the evidence : — " To Agnes. —My Dear — I loved you as my life and more. I make you my wife, but alas you hate the very sight of me. You may think thiß is temper, but it is not ; it is passionate love. When I broke that parasol it was not temper. Good-bye for ever. Good-bye, dear mother." The jury Returned a verdict that deceased died from the gunshot wound, inflicted by Himsolf whilst of unsound mind.
