" DIGNITY !"
TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING POST. Sir, — Mr. Hutchison, in his speech the sthor night at the Sydney-street schoolroom, stated that Mr. A. Young had not dignity mough to occupy tho civic chair. Does that so-called " dignity " consist in trying to induce the Town Clerk to " stuff " the trarjess roll, by getting Mr. Hutchison's name placed on the said roll after it had been officially signed (as complete) by tho Mayor md two councillors, as required by Act ? Or loes the "dignity" of the offico consist iv the Mayor signing a cheque for a lage imount for extras on a contract for waterworks (thon being carried on) without the knowledge of tho rest of the Council, and in consequence of which an enquiry was if terwards held, the result of which is well known ? If these are the attributes that constitute bhe " dignity " of the office of Mayor, then I 3ay Mr. Young has not got them. But we know a candidate that has, and may use them again if he thinks it necessary. Citizens, remember these facts when you ire asked for your vote. I am, &c, Warning.
