Will Honest Thomas Ma«on tell me If ho ovor refused the salary or honorarium, amounting to ovor £100, givou to him for retarding die progress of the Hutt, of which County he is tho chairman ; or bas he ever refused tbe amount given to members of tho Road Board, or tbo sum pnid to him for oach sitting of ilio Waste Land Board, which is stated to be 30s for each tsittlDg, lasting sometimes for about ton minutes. Aud lot me ask this exceedingly honest man has he not asked tbe Waste Land Board to pay him an additional sum of 12$ for each tirao that ho sits at the Board, to pay his expenses aud cab -hire — cab-hire, indeed! But tell ma now, Honest Thomrq Mpsor, was there not some arrangement between youiself and an ex-Ministor that if you got in for the Hctt you were to be translated to the Upper House ?— a place for which yon may to porhaps m well qualified rs some of tho denizens of that chamber. Aud now let me aak you, honest and liberal Thomas Mason, how is it that you have made yourself acquainted with large political questions— triennial Parliament, manhood suffrage, progressive works — Bering that two months ago, at tho meeting, you stated thatyou know nothingabout those things, but that you would learn ? And lastly, lot mo ask you how is it tbat you have managed to disfranchise one-half of the electoia of the Hutt district, through your negligence in omitting to sendin at the proper timo the ratepayers' roll, as you were required to do ? Does tbta appear o? if you required an extension of tho franchise in your district? I am, &c, Another Humbug. Wellington, 26th August.
