Mount Etna is now dimurshing in eruption. Thirty new craters have appeared near the '

tewn rf Pandazquol, at the north-western foot of the mountain. Vesuvius is also in eruption. Lava from Mount Etna covered a portion of the bed of the River Alcantara. The village of Mejo was abandoned, and Casselo was also threatened. A stream of lava half a mile wide and 100 ft deep interrupts the road at Passa Pescario.
