The steamer Wanganui put back yesterday afternoon and reported a boat bottom upwards, with two men clinging to her. Capt. Bayldon stated the boat was so near shore that she would be probably thrown upon the beach immediately. i Q an y case there was too much sea for him to have offered assistance. Search parties proceeded to the spot indicated, while the harbor boat went out, and kept along outside the breakers. The boat was found bottom upwards and anchored, the anchor having dropped and caught hold when the boat capsized. No traces of the men could be seen, but tho oar*, fishing-lines, &c, were washed ashore. The bodies came ashore about 10 o'clock. The deceased men havo both large families. One, Mr. Daniel M'Lean, was the proprietor of tbe wharf for many years. He possessed a yontursome spirit, being an explorer, and was in -the habit of going out sea-fishing in a small boat. Tho other, named Plutey, was a half-caste native of Canterbury.
