THE FIREMEN AND THE REDUCTION OF WAGES.
* TO THB BDITOB OP THB EVENING POST. Sir,— Allow me, in the name of t!.e firemen of the Onion Company, to pass a few remarks in the intended reduction of our wages. I think it is very hard that we should be classed on the same footing with Melbourne and Sydney firemen, considering the price of clothing, boarding, and other requisites oi people of our cla^s in New Zealand. I think you will say with me, that we are only seeking a fair day's pay for a fair day's work. I am, kc, Clinxek. 26 th June, 1879.
