The assets of the Victorian Provincial Bank are regarded as greatly overvalued, and it is considered certain that the shareholders will be compelled to make good a large deficiency. Weiberg, the gold robber, has disgorged several hundred sovereigns. Breadstufivs are firmer. The s.s. City of Melbourne has arrived from New Caledonia, bringing 47 released Communists. Affairs were quiet at New Caledonia when the steamer) left.
