Auckland, 17th May. " Nimrod" in his sporting notes to the Star says: —At last there is a probability of. Auckland having a stud company. Several gentlemen having taken the matter up lately, and are going into the matter properly. The capital is to be £10,000, in a thousand shares of £10 each. In a few days the prospectus will be issued, and then I expect to see a rush for the shares, as with proper management it ought to pay at least twenty per cent, per annum. Christchurch, 17th May. The following acceptances and general ontries were received to-night for tho Grand National Steeplechase meeting :— Maiden Plate of £100.— Htrkaway, Noumai, Silverstream, Loch Lomond, Moonlight, and Black Prince. Grand National Steeplechase of 200 sovs.~Eversley, Agent, Lone Hand (Muir's), Loyalty, Silverstream, Royalty, Grey Momus, The Lad, Te Whetu, Moose, Ivanboe, and Fakir. , Hunt Club Cup of 150 sovs.— Eversley, Agent, Lone Hand (Muir's), Loch Lomond, The Lad, Ivanhoe, Alma, Te Wketu. Neilson's Lone Hand did not accept./ A match for £300 a side between Mr. Evans' g m Milly and Mr. Milner's b g Black Boy took place to-day. The distance was 15 miles | on the Ricarton Road. Both horses went off well. Black Boy taking the lead, which he held to tue finish, winning by a long distance, in 47min. There was a large number of spectators. A good deal of money changed hands on the event. The racing stock lately imported from Australia, the property of Mr. H. Prince, was offered for sale by auotion to-day, but all were withdrawn, the reserve prfcendt being reached.
