ARRIVAL OF THE PLEIADES.

Messrs. Shaw, Savill <fc Co.'aflne ship Pleiades, 997 tons, Captain Button, arrived in this harboi on Tuesday night from London, after a passage of 89 days. The Pleiades left the Downs on Ist October, and took her final departure from Start Point on the 3rd October. Heavy B.W. gales were encountered in the Bay of Biscay, and afterwards light N.B. trades to lat. lOdeg. N, The Equator was crossed on 6th November is lon. 28deg. W., 34 days out. Fine BJ3. trades t were citught on the Line, and carried up to 24deg. ft, and from thenoo W. and N.W. winde were experienced to Tasmania, which was passed on Chriotmas Day, 83 days oat. The easting was run down In laf. 46deg. From Tasmania Strong B.W. gales prevailed, and several heavy seas were Bhipped, one smashing the skylight and flooding the saloon, but doing no material damage. Cape Farewell was sighted at 10 p.m. on Monday last, 260 miles per diem having been averaged. Fresh westerly breezes carried her through Cook Strait to tho Brothers, where she was necalmed for several hours. The pilot boarded her at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, and she came safely to an anchor at 9 o'clock the Baza* evening. The Pleiades brings about thirty passengers but no Government; immigrants. No deaths, sickness, or accidents, occurred during the voyage. The passengers all Bpeak hi terms of the highest praise of Captain Button, and tho treatment they experienced on board. They presented a very complimentary farewell address to Captain Button on their arrival. During the passage the Pleiades spoke the barque Olara, bound froui Havannah to Malmora; she reported having lost the captain and five men from yellow fever a week after leaving port. The fine ship The Douglas, well known in Wellington, also was spoken, and wished to be reported all well. She was bound from Liverpool to Melbourne.
