THE CHAMPION WRESTLING MATCH. (Per Press Agency.) Dunedin, 28th November.
The wrestling match for £100 a side between Thomas, the champion of Victoria, and Dagg, of Otago, took place on tho Caledonian Grounds to-day in the presence of about 1000 people. Dagg is taller and about a stone heavier tfian the Victorian, and had many backers ; but the betting was in favor of Thomas. Both men were loudly cheured when they made their appearance in the ring. As soon as they closed for the first round it was apparent that Dagg was over-matched, and that though he was heavier he did not possess either the muscular power or the skill of the Victorian champion. The contest was a very hollow affair, as Thomas threw Dagg three times in succession without much difficulty, and as he thus scored the best three out of five, he was declared the wioner. He wrestles Tyson, the champion of Otago, on 12th December, but it is supposed that he will beat him easily.
