Owing to the farmers holding out for higher prices than buyers are inclined to give, transactions ore few in grain. Quotations — Wheat 8s 8d to 3s lOd ; oats, 3s 8d to 3s lOd ; barley, 5s to 5a 6d, in good demand, but little offering ; flour, £10 IDs to J6lO 15s; oatmeal, £20: pearl barley, £25 ; pollard, £5 10s ; bran, £5 ; potatoes, £5. Timaku. 6th September. The wheat market is very dull. Holders are anxious to reduce their stocks, which are still heavy. Wheat, about 48 ; oats, firm and in demand at 4b 3d for feed, and 4s (5d for milling ; flour is dull at £11 to £12 ; bran and sharps are scarce, and demand brisk at 53 5d and Cs 6d reflectively ; choese, CJd : butter, lid to Is ; hams and bacon {in cloth),~7id.
