The ship Midlothian anchored at the powder ground last evening, at 8 o'clock. She left the Docks for Now Zealand on the 7th May, but had to put back, her steering gear being out of order, and before it could be rectified some 700 or 800 tons of cargo had to be taken out. She started again on the 19th May, but while being towed out the tow-line parted and flew back, severely injuring a seaman, who incautiously had slackened it, and he had to be put ashore at Gravesend, apparently in a dying state. The ship cleared the Downs on the 20th May, and the Channel on the 24th. Had good N.E. trades to the Equator, but subsequently experienced unfavorable weather until passing the Cape, on the 18th July, whence she had strong westerly breezes, and made the run thence to New Zealand in 31 days, sighting the coast on the 18th inst., and had light winds until arrival, as above. Her agents, Messrs W. and G. Turnbull and Co., inform us she will probably be berthed at the wharf on Monday and entered at the Customs. The s.s.
