A SENSATION IN CHURCH.
<» A crazy blacksmith named William Falkenbach created a sensation lately in quite an original manner. He entered a Catholic church while service was being held, and, to the astonishment of everybody, commenced to rush frantically about among the worshippers, tossing his arms wildly, and uttering incoherent sentences in a loud voice. The congregation, thinking some dreadful thing was about to happen, were thrown into a state of intense excitement. In this fit, the madman became more violent, and finally picked up a child that was kneeling in terror, and threw it headlong towards the door. This was a little more than the worshippers could put up with. The blacksmith was taken in hand and turned over to an officer, who carried him off to the lock-up. During the affair at the church many of the congregation rushed out into the street. Falkenbach talks quite rationally at times, while at others he gives out the most comically absurd propositions. He says he isafirm believer in Christianity, and that the devil had him on that occasion. — Melbourne paper.
