CHRISTCHURCH. 21st August.
The so-called Dr. Turner, hydropathic lecturer, completed his sentence on Saturday. He was again arrested on a charge of stealing a coat belonging to a traveller named Cawelf. He is remanded for eight days. The Press Club have decided to hold the inaugural dinner within a fortnight. The following is the foothall team selected to play the northern provinces:— Anderson. J. Barker, J. Chapman, E. Cotterill, E. Craxton, C. H. Evans, J. A. Hamilton, R. Lee. G. H. Milton, W. Moore, W. H. M'Cardell, H. Ollivier, L. M. Pidiug, F. Potts, D. Potts, A. Potts, G. Stringer. The Lyttelton Tim«s says : — " Although the committee has been disappointed in obtaining several good players, who at the last were prevented by various causes from getting away, yet the team is fairly representative and undoubtedly strong, and will be certain to give a good account of themselves in tUe floitu."
