THE SIR JULIUS VOGEL RECEPTION COMMITTEE.
TO THE EDITOK OF THE .EVENING -POST. Sir— What a pity it is that your fcortwSondent, i.e., " One who Likes to Knowirjbu InoWj" has not first consulted a little, of his reasoning faculties before rushing into print with such a puerile question as to ask' publicly for a reason why did not Mr. Black* arid Mr. South ride in the same carriage with Sir Julius. This poisoned arrow frtim your correspondent, though aimed with great intenfled accuracy at both Mr. Back and Mr.-'South-has, I am certain; through his observant vision, quite missed that fatal, result so sanguinely hoped by him. All sensible citizens must know that the Sir Julius Vogel committee had. not the remotest notion of sacrificing their manly independence when^thiy undertook to give a befitting reception , 'to that personage, and to charge' either bit. Black, Mr. South, or indeed any of them, with *unw worthy flukeyism is simply a superficial and mean view taken of the actions 6f men whom I doubt not can boast of more elevated and untrammelled souls than any individual , that such a pusillanimous insinuation could spring from. For my part, I have nothing whatever to do with either the Reception Committee, nor yet with the Coming banquet, and" I would submit to your correspondent if /air play, do not constitute tne very essence df the' eternal order of things* I am, &c, Fair Plat. 14th February. - :
