SALE OF CROWN LANDS.
At the Provincial Council Chamber totlaj', 24,000 acres of first-class agricultural bushfcland, situated in the AJanawatu district, were offered for sale, tho Commissioner, J. G. Holdsworth, Esq., officiating as auctioneer. The land was divided into 118 surveyed sections, varying in size from 60 to 300 acres each. The sale commenced at noon. There waa a small attendance of bidders, and the following sections were disposed of :—: — Section 212. 108 acres £103, upset price ; Section 213, 246 acres, £246. upset price ; Section 219, 306 acres, £306, upset price ; Sect-on 220, 200 acres, £200, upset price ; Section 221, 306 acres, £306, upset price ; Section 222, 200 acres, £200, upset All the other sections were withdrawn, there being no bidders. The purchasers" at the sale were Messrs Stephen Barrow, F. O'Reilly, and W. Mills. The total land sold is 1386 acres, and the amount of cash received, £1386. , ', -; , {
