STRANDING OF THE LILLIE HAWKINS.
TO THE EDITOR \>F THE EVENING POST, Sir — Will you permit space in the columns of your valuable paper to allow me publicly to thank Mr. Seabury, the pilot at the Manawatu River, for the very strenuous efforts he made, which proved successful, to get my vessel — the LillLe Hawkins — from off the beach when endeavoring, to enter that river on Sunday, the 2nd January. I consider it simply my duty to give this public recognition of bis services oh that occasion. I am, &c, James Smith, Master Lillie Hawkins. •Foxton, sth January.
