uurKe, a railway contractor was accosted on Saturday night by five men formerly in his employ, and who demanded some wages that he was unable to pay them. He did not reply, and turned away, when one of *them knocked him senseless with a stone. Burke was conveyed to a tent and subsequently to an hotel. He is likely to recover. The men are to be arrested this afternoon.
