WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Mrs J- K. Boon presided over the monthly meeting of the Killinchy Women's Institute, ,at which there was a very good attendance of members. The roll call, "What I would like for a Christmas present," proved most, amusing. It was decided to visit the gardens of a nursery early in January. Sympathy was expressed with Mesdames Boon, Pearce. Blair and Dawson.

Members entertained the children of the district and their parents at a delightful Christmas party. The children received most useful gifts off the prettily-decorated tree from Father Christmas. Matthew Allan, on behalf of the children, thanked the members and wished them the season's greetings.

The children held a flower show during.the afternoon at which parents paid a silver coin for admission and were thanked by Lester Hardy. Father Christmas also took the opportunity to present special school prizes to two pupils of the Killinchy school, Helen Riches for project work and Eric B^'ir, for most improved pupil.

Both children and parents enjoyed the afternoon tea provided by the members. Soft drinks were donated by Mrs Boon and donations were received from Mrs M. O'Brien, Mrs C. Manson and Mrs S. Chappell.
