VEGETABLE GARDENS
LEESTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY'S COMPETITION
JUDGE'S DECISION ANNOUNCED
On Wednesday the judge, Mr A. J. Sheat, Dunsandel, inspected the gardens entered for the Leeston Horticultural Society's vegetable garden competition. There were six entries and the judge was very much impressed with the high standard reached in all, which, despite the dry weather, were well filled with healthy vegetables. Indicating the closeness of the competition, it is worthy 0 f note that only 11 points separated the six gardens. The awards went to the following: A. J. Henderson . l Mrs T. N. Beckett 2 D. F. H. " 'Social consciousness' is tuxedo English for 'socialistic consciousness,' which, in turn, is pussyfoot English for Communism. Its opposite is individual consciousness, which means that the indivdual—you and me, not .an abstract mass—is of primary value, Individual consciousness, individual rights, not social rights, which may mean anything or nothing, but which, generally, mean State tyranny of .some kind." —Benjamin DeCasseres, New York "Journal-American."
