Lakeside
TENNIS CLUB'S ANNUAL
MEETING
A successful season's play and a strong financial position were features recorded in the report presented to the annual meeting of the Lakeside Tennis Club last night, over which Mr F. Nairn presided. There was a good attendance.
The report, presented by Mr M. Nairn, gave the membership as 61 and stated that tennis continued to be the main form of recreation in the district during the summer months. The finances of the club were sound, the profit on the year being £9/19/6. The courts had been top-dressed before the opening last year. A farewell had been tendered to Mr J. Nesbitt, a former secretary, and Mrs Nesbitt. By the removal .from the district of Mr H. Schnelle the club had lost one of its founders who had done a great deal to put the club on a sound footing. The funds iiad been augmented by the proceeds of socials and competitions. A successful tournament had been held on Boxing Day, the winners being Mrs L. Lambie and Mr S. Vince (A grade), Miss P. Chambers and Mr M. Alexander (B grade). A knock-out competition held by the Ellesmere SubAssociation had resulted in a win for the Lakeside teams in both the A 'and B grades. The success of the teams had been partly due to the keenly contested • ladder positions early in the season. Cup matches finished toward the end of the season had been won by Mrs L. Hantz and Mr F. Amyes.
The balance-sheet showed an income of £99/15/2, the year starting with a credit of £36/0/10 and ending with a credit of £47/2/10.

Members considered that the courts were in fair order,- having been top-dressed last season.
Next Saturday was chosen as opening day. The cups won during last season are to be presented to the winners during the afternoon. Two new members were elected. No change was made in the subscription fees.
It was agreed that the club's delegates to the Sub-association should advocate holding the competitions as usual, and that the club should enter teams in the A and B grades.
A motion that juniors reaching the age of 18 years before the end of October should pay the senior membership fee was carried.
Messrs M. Nairn, F. Amyes and E. G. Amyes were elected handi-
cappers
A suggestion by Mr Hantz that a table tennis outfit should be procured was favourably received and the president and Mr Hantz were asked to go into the question of cost and confer with the Hall Com-
