At Leeston

"DAP RUDD, M.P." FOR

SATURDAY

The adventures of the Australian movie family, the Rudds, are carried a stage further in "Dad Rudd, M.P.," which will be screened at Leeston Theatre on Friday and Saturday of this week. As the title indicates, Dad is now a member of Parliament, but it is only by a close majority that he defeats his rival and there is plenty of excitement and fun in the election campaign. Besides the contest for the seat there is a clash of interest between the candidates over an irrigation dam which was being built in the district. With the wellknown members of the Rudd family back in their favourite characters, Bert Bailey as Dad, Fred McDonald (Dave), Connie Martyn (Mum), (Joe) Ossie Wenban, (Sally) Valeric Scanlan, several new characters appear and are interpreted in an excellent manner. The photography is excellent, the out-of-door shots being particularly good, while the construction of the dam forms the background of several thrilling scenes. Previous pictures of the Rudd family have been most popular and there is every indication that "Dad Rudd, M.P." will be no exception to the rule. It provides ample humour and snappy dialogue, and all those other ingredients characteristic of a successful motion picture, while it will exert much appeal to the spirit of the colonials.
