ELLESMERE BRANCH MEETS
Mrs E; Mclntyre, president, was in the chair ,at the first committee meeting for this year of the Ellesmere, branch of the Plunket Society, held at Leeston on Thursday. Others present were Mesdames J. Coe, W. McLachlan, M. H. Boyd, A. J. W. Young, F. H. Mcllraith, F. L. Graham, C. Tod, W. O. .Rennie, V. G. Mason, J. A. Creagh, W. G. Volckman and A. Anderson (hon. sec.). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames W. S. McLaughlin, JJ. W. Hayes, E. B. Ford, W. C. Eggelton, W. H. Cartwright, W. B. Cunningham, J. R. Godsell and G. Nairn.
On account of her impending departure from the district Mrs H. Schnelle tendered her resignation, which was accepted with keen regret. Appreciation of the great interest Mrs Schnelle had taken in the work of the society over a long period was expressed.
Nurse Home wrote on the subject of pre-school children.
The secretary of the R.S.A. Women's Auxiliary, solicited the society's support for its Poppy Day appeal. It was decided to assist and Mesdames Mclntyre and Creagh were appointed delegates to a meeting of the R.S.A. to be held at Leeston.
After a short discussion it was decided to hold over until next meeting the question of holding the annual dance.
Thursday, April 3, was chosen as the date for the annual meeting and nominations for the various offices were received. Accounts totalling £33 were passed for payment.
